According to Lenovo, the Thinkpad P16 is a synthesis of the previous Thinkpad P15 and P17 mobile workstations. It has inherited the compact design from the P15 and the equipment with high-end components from the larger P17. And here the new Thinkpad P16, weighing almost three kilograms, can even top the previous P17. Intel’s brand new Alder Lake HX CPUs up to the Core i9-12950HX with vPro support are used for the processor. They come up with up to 16 cores, including a maximum of eight fast P-cores and eight efficient E-cores. The DDR5 RAM is up to 128 GB. On request, professional Nvidia solutions up to the mobile RTX A5500 with 7,424 Cuda cores, 58 RT cores, 232 tensor cores and 16 GB ECC GDDR6 provide fast workstation graphics. The CPU and GPU are cooled by a double vapor chamber and two fans. The storm-gray housing is made of aluminum and accommodates a 94 Wh battery. According to the manufacturer, the battery frame and the housing of the two speakers are partly made of recycled plastic.
