Acer has also shown the new product line at a virtual event this year. The Taiwanese computer manufacturer has not only launched new business notebooks of the Travelmate series, but also the Swift 3 with OLED display, the convertibles Spin 3 and Spin 5 as well as premium convertible Chromebooks. Acer has not only focused on new processors, but also on mobility and flexibility.

Travelmate P4, Travelmate Spin P4 and Travelmate P2

The business notebooks for small and medium-sized companies and hybrid workers are now equipped with larger touchpads. They should also be characterized by a quieter keystroke and certified robustness (military standard MIL-STD 810H).

The 14-inch or 16-inch Travelmate P4 and Travelmate Spin P4 work with either Core i7 vPro processors of the 12th generation from Intel or AMD Ryzen 7 Pro CPUs. New to the variants with AMD processors is the Pluton hardware security developed by Microsoft and integrated in the processor. It is designed to protect the identity, data and applications of Windows 11 devices.

The IPS displays of the new Travelmates offer a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 pixels and an aspect ratio of 16:10. The Spin P4 uses an anti-reflective, 360-degree rotatable display.

The Travelmate P2 with a 14-inch or 15.6-inch large screen is expected to be available from September 2022. The cheapest model should cost 849 euros (RRP).

Also in September 2022, the Intel variants of the Travelmate P4 with a 14-inch and with a 16-inch display will go on sale for an MSRP starting at 999 euros. Already from August 2022, the TravelMate P4 (14-inch and 16-inch models) equipped with AMD processors will be available from 949 euros (RRP).

Acer Swift 3, Spin 5 and Spin 3

The latest Alder Lake H-Series processors and Intel Iris Xe graphics are installed in the new Acer Swift 3 (SF314-71). There are PCIe Gen4 SSDs and up to 16 GB of LPDDR5 memory. The 17.9 mm thin Swift 3 has a 14-inch OLED display in the format 16:10. The notebook made of aluminum weighs only 1.4 kg. The touchpad of the slim laptop is made of recycled marine plastic and should have a glass-like feel. In addition, the backlit keyboard is designed so that the air intake dissipates 8 to 10 percent more heat than a standard keyboard, according to Acer.

Also on board are a Full HD webcam and WiFi 6E. According to the manufacturer, the battery life is 10 hours. With a charging time of 30 minutes, the batteries of the Swift 3 should last for a whole 4 hours.

With its 1.3 kg, the Acer Spin 5 (SP514-51N) is still a little lighter than the Swift 3. The convertible is 16.9 mm slim. The 14-inch touch display offers WQXGA resolution (2,560 x 1,600 pixels) in 16:10 format.

Also, the Spin 5 is powered by Alder Lake processors (up to the Core i7) and Iris Xe graphics from Intel. The RAM can be up to 16 GB LPDDR5. A 1 TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD is used as mass storage. Fast data transfers should be possible via WiFi 6E or Thunderbolt 4.

For better cooling, Acer has developed and used a new twin-air cooling system for the Spin 5. The rechargeable Acer Active Stylus with Wacom AES 2.0 technology offers 4,096 pressure levels.

Also new is the Acer Spin 3 (SP314-55/N). The slim 2-in-1 notebook has a 14-inch Full HD touchscreen and a dockable Acer Active Stylus3. Inside, 12th generation core processors work with Intel’s Iris Xe GPU. There are PCIe SSDs for this. As with the Acer Spin 5, in addition to WiFi 6, there is a Thunderbolt 4 port as well as two USB Type-C ports. An HD camera is also integrated.

According to Acer, the flexible devices will be available from July. The Swift 3 OLED (SF314-71) and the Spin 3 in the cheapest variant should cost 999 euros (RRP). The Acer Spin 5 (SP514-51N) will be available in stores at non-binding recommended retail prices starting at 1,399 euros.

Acer Chromebook Spin 514, Chromebook 515, Chromebook 514 and Chromebook Spin 314

Acer has launched four new Chromebooks at the same time. In addition to new processors, the focus is on special features for video conferencing.

Intel’s 11th generation Core i7 processors work inside the 14-inch and 15.6-inch Spin Enterprise 514. For both the Chromebook Spin 514 and the Chromebook Spin Enterprise 514, Acer relies on a flexible, robust design that can be used in four different working modes (laptop, tablet, tent and display mode). The aluminum covers on the top and bottom of the devices are reinforced and certified according to MIL-STD 810H2. In addition, Intel WiFi 6 (Gig+), an illuminated keyboard, a Gorilla Glass touchpad, a Full HD webcam and two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C ports are available.

The Acer Chromebook 515 (CB515-1W/T) and the Chromebook Enterprise 515 also work with similar features. The 11th generation Intel Core processors (up to the Core i7) are joined by Iris Xe graphics, up to 512 GB PCIe NVMe memory and up to 16 GB RAM. In addition, the Chromebooks should be ready to go particularly quickly: according to Acer, they wake up from hibernation in less than a second. The large 15.6-inch Full HD display is also available with multitouch functionality. Two microphones should ensure that, for example, during video conferences, the user’s voice can be clearly understood. And a webcam cover protects privacy after video conferencing. In addition to Intel’s WiFi 6 (Gig+) and the two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports, there are ports for HDMI displays or projectors and microSD cards.

The Acer Chromebook 514 (CB514-2H/T) uses an octa-core Kompanio 828 processor from Mediatek. The 1.3 kg Chromebook should be characterized by battery runtimes of up to 15 hours. In addition, according to Acer, it can be recharged to up to 50 percent in just 30 minutes. The 16.85 mm slim device is equipped with a matte 14-inch screen, which is also available with multitouch functionality. There is also an aluminum cover and a touchpad made of Corning Gorilla Glass, a backlit keyboard and USB Type-C ports.

The touchpad of the Acer Spin Chromebook 314 (CP314-1H/N) is made of environmentally friendly ocean glass. New Intel processors work inside the 14-inch Chromebook with Ful HD IPS touchscreen. The battery life should be up to 10 hours. The new Chromebook also has numerous connection options, including a USB 3.2 Type-C port, two USB 3.2 Type-A ports, an HDMI port and a microSD slot, as well as WiFi 6 for fast data transfers.
